Hey Healthy Moms! I’m so excited to announce a new theme! Drumroll…..Commit to be Fit Fridays!! Throughout the year, we will have seasonally related challenges for you to participate in. One of my goals with this site is to create a community of women who are proactive with their health and the health of their families. So, periodically, we will announce a new challenge that I also am taking part in and on Fridays, we want to hear from YOU. Share your pictures, your thoughts, your progress on your goals, etc. I’m looking at the best way to do that and will let you know as soon as I find the solution. For now, email me at admin AT healthymomskitchen DOT com with anything you’d like to share and just KNOW that it may appear here on Commit to be FIT Fridays
Now, you ready for the first challenge? Two years ago, I was inspired to start running. NEVER before in my life did I have a desire to be a “runner” but when you live in Utah, especially Provo area, you start to wonder what the glory of running is all about. I never met so many runners who loved running and I began to wonder what I was missing out on. I decided, I wanted to try it and do it the right way. I went to a running shoe store and had them measure my feet and figure out the best shoe for my feet. Then, I found a running buddy and committed to a running schedule and began the Couch to 5K program. I love this program because it can take anyone who has never ran in their life and prepare them for a 5K in 9 weeks. If you’re already in an exercise routine, you can probably skip ahead a bit. I was able to push myself more than the program did, but listen to your body and just do what you can handle. I never once had sore muscles or shin splints. And, I loved the socializing of it. I will admit. I did not enjoy running by myself but I had a fabulous running partner who taught me all about mind over matter, so it was easy for me to get hooked. Okay…this is a really long intro. But, I guess I wanted to sell you on the idea of running. It did for my LEGS what nothing else has done. Hottest legs I’ve ever had
So, here it is – I’m inviting YOU to participate in the American Fork Utah Halloween FUN Run on October 23rd at 7 PM with Healthy Mom’s Kitchen. This is such a fun race in the dark, through a cemetery, lots of spooky fun! Almost everyone dresses up. Our team will be wearing our Flirty Aprons and Healthy Mom’s Kitchen shirts. If you don’t live nearby, we’d still love to have you participate in this challenge. Just let us know what your goal is. My personal goal is to cut 2 minutes off my time and finish the race in under 28 minutes. What do you want to achieve by the end of October with your fitness?
Involve your family in Commit to be Fit as well. Help your children set goals and keep track of them.

Love this post! I am running another 5K a week from tomorrow, but you’ve motivated me to sign up for another one on November 6th (my kids have three soccer games each Saturday until then, or else I would have signed up for October 23rd). I just finishing registering. I’m planning to really improve my time between the two 5Ks. Can’t wait!
And to help me, I’m starting another big health challenge with friends, this coming Sunday. It is all set up and ready to go. I cannot wait! Thanks for the great motivation!
I’m committed!! Check out what I’m doing
Thanks for the motivation!!

There must be something in the air, maybe back to school? I have been not focused on my own care as I have been taking care of my mother in addition to my fam. I have started a challenge for myself; http://simplysandwich.net/2010/09/04/walking-the-walk/. I won’t be able to join you but I am cheering for you all the way!!
