When I was researching blogs to come up with my site name, I came across Super Healthy Kids. I love this blog because Amy has tread water I haven’t yet been through. My kids are young so I appreciate learning from her experience raising super healthy kids. Super Healthy Kids has created Healthy Habits Plates that are a fun teaching tool. Amy sent me a plate a few weeks ago for Sophie to use. She also sent along some information about raising healthy kids. This plate is helpful to me when serving up Sophie’s food to help me get her portions right. It also reminds me my kid needs healthy grains. I often just make protein and veggies for dinner. Sophie loves eating off the plate and learning about portions. Mealtime is the best time for us to teach our kids little tidbits about eating balanced and to start talking about nutrients they can get from different foods and that we eat to provide our body with what it needs to function properly. It also helps me serve up the right amounts for her and she’s happy about that because I realized I give her a little too much protein (chicken, beans, whatever, it’s her least favorite thing to eat).
Amy has provided us with plates for a giveaway! One winner will be receiving 2 Healthy Habits Plates. Giveaway rules are below. If you live near me, you’re in luck because Amy lives close by and can arrange for you to pick up the plates from her or me to save $1 on shipping. At $4.99 each, this is an inexpensive teaching tool for your family. Get a couple for each kid. They will love them and you’ll be glad you did. As Amy says on her site, by age 10 our kids have created the lifestyle habits they were have for their whole lives. Be proactive with their health now so you don’t regret it later.

I have a one year old, and I am trying to make her a much more adventurous eater than I am. I offer her all different kinds of fruits and vegetables, even ones I don’t like. This has spread to my husband and I because now we’re trying (and liking) foods we never thought we wood. I am trying to eliminate processed foods from our diets. Wish me luck!
Just became a fan fon facebook. I always encourage my 3 year old to take at least 1 bite of everything. It’s very rare that she won’t try something new because of this practice.
Let your kids go to the store with you and pick out a new fruit or veggies they have never tried before. That way kids are introduced to new foods and they are more likely to give it a try because they picked it out!

We have been cutting out sugar, and using Agave and Honey to sweeten stuff with. We also are buying Raw milk and organic eggs from a local farmer!
Entered change one meal challenge.
We avoid using the car whenever possible and get out and walk!
I’m already a fan on FB–does that count?
I start hem in the womb. I eat, as healthy as I can when they’re developing in the womb. From there I continue to eat healty as they’re breastfeeding. Then their first taste of solid foods are not fruits, but green veggies for a couple of weeks. THEY LOVE healthy food!!! They love sugar too, but we have no problems w/ getting them to eat veggies.

My kids have an apple every single afternoon as their snack.
If you don’t buy it the kids can’t eat it (or beg for it). Keep healthy snacks ready at all times, with 5 kids in my house someone is always hungry.
I offer fruits and vegetables when they ask for a snack.
I try to prep all at once so its quick and easy to pull out later. Like cutting up cheese, veggies and fruit which only takes me maybe 45 minutes for the whole week (of course not all fruit works that way but the ones I can I do this for). Then I less tempted to pull out something not so healthy for their snack when I am feeling too lazy to cut any up…no excuse because its already done!
I joined your google friends!
We purchase vegetables and hormone-free meats from a local farmer.
